At Sharpe Racing Kennels it's a family affair with myself, Sonya my wife and my two daughters Abbey and Demi running the complex.
We took over Elite State Lodge from Jim Osborn in June 2009 where we intend to build on our success of the last few years.
I got into the sport around 20 years ago, it all came about when a few mates who owned a bitch offered me a quarter share. She started racing a few months later, won her first ever race start in Toowoomba and I have been hooked ever since.
Around 2 years ago I decided to give greyhound racing my full attention as at this stage I was eating, sleeping and breathing greyhounds and this is what I had always wanted to do. Once you have tasted that winning feeling you just want more and more success, so this was the natural next stepping stone.
Already I have full-filled one of my lifetime ambitions with becoming a full time greyhound trainer and my other ambitions can now be realized as I hope to have a long and successful career in the sport at the top level.
In this sport I admire anyone that has a go as it's a tough sport with ups and downs along the way. Trainers like Ron Ball - he has been at the top of game for so long, Graham Bate, the Wheeler family - because their success is beyond any ones wildest dreams, Tony Brett - what he has achieved already in the sport is what gives me the drive and makes me hungry to succeed in this industry.
